The Cooperative of Salt Farmers of Ré Island is divided into two complementary teams: members and employees. 70 salt farmers (including 5 women) are adhering members and shareholders who sell their products exclusively to the Cooperative. For 20% of them, salt farming is their only livelihood. 80% have a second job.
The members meet once a year in the General Assembly to elect the representatives of the Board of Directors, who will have the overall management of the Cooperative. The board then elects a president, two vice-presidents, a treasurer and a secretary.
A General Manager is also appointed by the Board of Directors. Their mission is to put into effect the means, policies and strategies defined by the Board of Directors.
The General Manager oversees a team of 21 employees (50% male-female) who handle sales and communication. The team consists of several departments: production, logistics, quality, sales, administration and accounting and reception.
